Counselor Education and Supervision page updated 2/1/2023 ~ Written by Lucrezia Mangione, LPC, LCPC, NCC, BC-TMH, DCEP
Looking for supervision? Are you an associate (LPC-A or LPCA) or graduate professional counselor (LGPC) ready to take your next steps?
It's a dynamic time - expanding your self-awareness, growing your identity as a professional counselor and working on the clinical hours doing what you love. It's a serious accomplishment. Congrats for your commitment and dedication to this healing art called professional counseling.
As a supervisor, supervising and witnessing people blossom and grow as they develop their skills and see their passions and dreams realized is rewarding. If you’d like to discuss being supported in your professional development, attaining your goals while ethically and safely working with the clients you’re eager to help, let me know.
Counselor education and supervision powers up your success with:

I believe supervision has two goals: supporting the development and enhancement of the skills of the supervisee and protecting the public. These goals operate simultaneously while supervision is occurring. Counseling supervision is designed to increase the supervisee’s effectiveness and competence. My approach to supervision is founded in developmental models of supervision. Attention to the supervisory relationship and supervisory roles is critical requiring the supervisor to be intentional, proactive, and flexible. Supervision interventions are tailored to supervisees’ developmental, cognitive, and conceptual levels, as well as the supervisees’ motivation, skills, and personal attributes, while ensuring the needs of the client(s) are met.
You can read about my counseling background, orientation & current practice here at these pages:
My supervisory style is collaborative, person-centered and strengths based with an integrative and developmental approach. I believe that supervisees change and develop as they progress through their clinical experiences. I trust in the synergy of wisdom from both of us, supervisor and supervisee pursuing the best in the supervisee for the benefit of the client(s). My responsibilities in supervision also include monitoring the welfare of both the client and therapist. I provide regular feedback and evaluation, ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and professional standards.
In professional counseling, I’m an “Approved Supervisor in Clinical Professional Counseling” for the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists for the State of Maryland (BOPC). My Approved Supervisor number is #LC6046. Here's the link for verification. In the States of CT and Virginia there is no approval process by the state to be a supervisor in Clinical Professional Counseling, at the time of writing this.
My 45-hour counseling supervision education training was formalized and completed in January 2018 through the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Department of Counseling and Educational Development’s “Approved Clinical Supervision Professional Development.”
My overall supervision experience includes 14+ years of clinical mentoring of Healing Touch students working towards their certification in Healing Touch (HT). These HT students are either licensed health professionals such as nurses, doctors, massage therapists, counselors or other allied healthcare providers who work in various non-counseling private practices and within hospital settings.
If we find we’re a good fit, here’s what you can expect from supervision with me:
-Empathy
-Availability
-Solutions for success
-Empowerment
