Your Safety and Privacy

Safety and privacy are central to the work of any counselor and psychotherapist. People who hurt need a safe environment in order to return to health and mental wellness.  A safe space where what is said is private and confidential is a necessity.

And your privacy is vital. It is so vital that it's covered by state and federal law, except in isolated cases. Those isolated cases are these exceptions: if someone wants to harm you or you wish to harm another person(s) or you are a threat to your own self.

My explanation is by no means comprehensive. You'll find a lot more details about your privacy and exceptions to your confidential health information at these websites. These are links to the law and your rights in the States of Connecticut, Maryland and Virginia where I practice and with the federal government at the Department of Health and Human Services.

Benefits and Intentions

The benefits of holistic in person therapy are deeply enriching and empowering. It's a process of what can be an exploration into your self and Self. A process that's a healing journey, deeply personal and that's potentially self-transforming and self-empowering. The topic of counseling and holistic therapy is large. On this site, you can explore more information about what psychotherapy and counseling are, the benefits and more.

I continue to have the honor of bearing witness to courage. It’s courage in action when clients face the pain of their past history or current experience. It’s courage in action when they take a step into the challenging yet rewarding process of personal growth and transformation.

Of course, there’s no guarantee as to what will happen in psychotherapy and counseling.  Everyone is different.  Everyone’s journey is unique.  As a counselor, I sometimes notice common denominators among some clients who are responsible and dedicated to doing their inner and outer mind-body work.

These are:

  • Relief or Relaxation and/or
  • Improved sense of physical health and/or
  • Increased sense of emotional peace and/or
  • Improved sense of mental clarity and/or
  • Strengthening of their personal connection to something greater than themselves
